Proverbs 3:5–6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Hello, it’s Vic Johnson and this is your Monday Morning Spirit Spark.
Let’s be honest: control feels safe.
If you can just plan it right… prepare enough… keep everything and everyone in line then maybe you won’t get hurt.
Maybe things won’t fall apart.
But here’s what Proverbs 3 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”
Letting go of control doesn’t mean letting go of wisdom.
It means letting go of the illusion that your understanding is what holds it all together.
Faith isn’t about figuring it out — It’s about trusting the One who already has.
And yes, it’s hard.
It’s hard to release the outcome.
Hard to rest when you don’t know how it’ll all work out.
Hard to stop gripping something you were never meant to carry alone.
But God doesn’t just want your obedience.
He wants your surrender.
Not because He’s trying to take something from you — but because He wants to lead you somewhere better.
So if you're white-knuckling your way through this Monday…
Loosen your grip.
Lift your hands.
And trust the path to the One who promised to make it straight.
>“Lord, I’ve been leaning on my own understanding again. Today, I let go. I surrender the outcome, the timeline, the details — and I trust You with all of it.”
That’s your Spirit Spark for today:
You don’t need to control what God has already promised to guide.
And that’s worth waking up for.
