Another one on point! Just recently lost my job of 10 years. Excited for what The Lord has in store for me. Dealing with marital issues at the same time though is a lot, but still enduring.
With that in mind, lost as to what scripture I should read to help me and guide through these struggles. Any recommendations?
The Lord wrote this through his vessel, me. No calling as to when or if I’m to give this to her.
I’m on a boat drifting down the stream of life, having just come through the worst storm of my life. Alone, with a heart heavy and weary.
Then you appeared, out of the blue, completely unexpected. With you, I felt safe and accepted as I am. I sought your affection, and you returned it. Despite my hardened, broken heart, I fell for you—hard. I was so completely swept away by you and your warmth that I even began rethinking my agnostic stance on God. You wanted to go to church, and I joined you. My heart opened, and I fell for Him as well.
As our relationship blossomed, we built a solid new boat with the promise that it would be led by Him.
We weathered many storms in those early years of life and marriage. Together, we faced each challenge and kept strengthening our boat. Life was tough, but your love and affection made me feel like I could tackle anything. You make me the man I am.
Going with the flow, though, we took control, trying to steer the boat in the direction we wanted. We hit storms, rapids, and rocks. Our boat suffered damage, and we couldn’t figure out how to repair it. It began to leak, and I bailed as hard as I could, trying to save our boat.
Eventually, waist-deep in water, I gave up bailing and looked around. You weren’t there—and neither was He. A feeling of utter loneliness and despair overtook my heart. I was completely lost in myself, cycling through every negative emotion and asking God, “Why?”
A solid boat came along, and I heard a voice: “Come to Me, come on in.” I did, with all the strength I had left.
He brought me out of my personal hell and began mending my heart. I’ve managed to patch up the boat a bit and have given the Lord back control. It hasn’t been easy at all—but I’m praying and listening for His guidance about our future.
So now I’m in the boat—not alone, with Him at the helm. And I see you standing on the shore, unsure if you want to climb back in. There are rocks and gators in the path, and I know you’re afraid.
But I need you back in the boat with me, with the Lord guiding us. I believe we can use the truth to rediscover each other and let Him mend our hearts. I so desperately want and need that—I need you.
I’m more than willing to jump out of the boat and guide you back safely, with a gentle hand, a soft heart, and loads of understanding. The first step is letting Him in… and maybe letting me in, too?
My biggest fear is that you might not want to get back in the boat—that you have your own and plan to follow your own path, and that eventually our boats will drift apart. My prayers are focused singularly on bringing you back aboard.
Agape love. Sacrificial love without an exit strategy.
My future is in His hands… and yours.
Whenever you’re ready, there’s room for you beside me.
Thank you for sharing that — and for your faith in the midst of it all. Losing a job and facing challenges at home is a heavy load, but the fact that you’re still holding on and looking to the Lord speaks volumes.
Here are a few Scriptures that offer real strength and perspective in seasons like this:
Isaiah 43:2
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
— A reminder that God doesn’t promise to keep us from the fire, but He does promise to be with us in it.
Psalm 34:18
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
— When your heart feels shattered, He is especially close.
Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
— When the future feels uncertain, this is a place to rest.
This has been one of my top 5 scriptures for many years now:
Romans 8:28
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”
— He alone can take the worst and make the best out of it, beyond even what we could have imagined.
I’m praying the Lord shows you the next step clearly and gently, and that His peace will guard your heart while you wait. You’re not alone in this.
If it helps, you might also re-read the message from June 9 — You're Not the First One on the Scene. Because truly - He’s already gone before you.
